Amalia “Mollie” Victoria Archibeque, 85, of Greeley, died Friday, November 22, 2013 at Garden Square at Westlake. Mollie was born on June 24, 1928 in Trinidad, Colorado to Enrique and Abenicia (Maes) Martinez.
As a young girl, Mollie moved with her family to Ault. Mollie met Willie Archibeque at a party and they were married on December 1, 1947 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. They moved into their home, which at the time had just two rooms and lived there for 64 years.
Through the years Mollie worked at The Tea House, Greeley, Bayly Manufacturing, Greeley, helped in the family business, M&A Construction and at Marisol Mexican Restaurant, Greeley.
Mollie was the typical 50’s mom, without the pearls, heels and shirtwaist dresses. She worked at home cleaning, sewing, canning, baking and cooking everything from scratch. She was Martha Stewart before being Martha was the “in” thing. She always said her hobby was working around the house. She was an excellent role model, modeling strength and independence. She had a great sense of humor and will be remembered for her wisdom, helpfulness, love and kindness, as well as being an inspiration on giving and loving. She was the heart of her family and her strength kept them close. Her kindness and caring were reflected in her unselfish acts towards others. Family was everything to her, whether you were born into, married into, or brought into the family as a friend, you were family. Mollie showered everyone with her selfless love, kindness, warmth and caring ways. She enjoyed going to ball games, concerts and award night for her grandchildren and also attending the fair to see their 4-H projects. She touched everyone through her culinary goodies.
Mollie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Mission in Ault and the Holy Family Society. She touched many lives through her deep faith in God that gave her daily strength and guided her in all that she did. She prayed for everyone. The worn beads of her rosary are a testament to her unwavering faith in God and the power of prayer. When you thought angels were watching over you, they were, and they were most likely sent through Mollie’s prayers. Her family strives to follow her selfless example to not judge others, to be the best that they can be to everyone they meet and to live life with a kind, loving and accepting spirit.
Mollie is survived by her husband, Willie; daughter, Linda Trimberger (Dan) of Greeley; three sons, Howard Archibeque (Karen), Russ Archibeque (Tammy) and Bill Archibeque (Linda) all of Greeley; grandchildren, Daniel Trimberger (Melissa) of Portland, Oregon, Courtney Archibeque of Beverton, Oregon, Lauren Archibeque of Greeley and Zane Archibeque of Longmont; two great-grandchildren, Tre Trimberger and Kellen Victoria Trimberger and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
