Hi Dad.  I think of you often, and miss you so very much.  I'm so glad I am working here - and am reminded often of your presence.  On my wall is a letter from the old Engine & Turbine Controls Division...with your ""state of the union"" message.  And your picture in the corner.  My Dad, Vice President and General Manager.  You can't imagine how proud I am of you, and all that you accomplished.  But most important - is how much I miss you.  And I want you to know how sorry I am that I missed your lunch call that one day - too busy to see you one last time.  When I see you again, will you let me buy you that lunch?  I love you, Dad.  And I miss you so very much.
p.s.  I really wasn't letting you win at golf - you were much better than you ever thought!

I am so lucky that for 7 years of my young life, I lived a mile away from Grandma and Grandpa.  They were an integral part of my life; something that I took for granted and was always present.  Being so close to them, I am blessed with memories of mundane, everyday events as well as those of special occasions.  I remember Grandpa pushing us on the swings or mowing while we played in the sandbox, playing ping pong, then upgrading to pool, playing scores of card games, taking out the croquet set or setting up the badminton net, chewing gum, eating sherbet ice cream or dilly bars, and telling us little jokes.
Grandpa has always been in my life, and I cannot imagine him not in it.  It is hard to think of never eating breakfast at the Charco Broiler with him again, or driving down the Poudre Canyon.  His distinct laugh is memorable, and will stay on the tip of my mind.  I was looking through pictures, and found one from a little over a year ago where he impressed my boys by showing them how to walk on stilts.  How fortunate I am that they will also remember attending a demolition derby with him.  I will miss all his stories of adventures around the world, and unique experiences.  He always had a humorous spin on them all.  
Even though Grandpa isn't here on earth with us, I will still feel like he is right there on the other end of the internet, or I could pick up the phone and hear him say ""Well, hello there!?""  He is a part of who I am, and will be with me always.  I love you, Grandpa, and my life is so much richer because you were such an important part of it.

Grandpa Alvis inspired so many lives.  He  inspired my wife in so many ways.  After meeting him on our wedding day I realized almost immediately why.    His memory will live on through the rest of our lives.

What a special and wonderful man my Grandpa was.  It is amazing how much love he was able to fit in that heart of his.  What I will remember most is the priceless time spent with him and my Grandma throughout my life and how I was fortunate enough to have been able to spent a lot of time with him.  What I will miss most are the intangible memories like his passion for life, love for his family and knowing that he was always there.  You really felt special being around him!  I love you and miss you very much Grandpa!

Please accept my condolences upon the death of Norm. He was a wonderful, kind & caring man whom I will miss very much. The last time I saw Norm was at my father's funeral last October. He was such a source of strength,comfort and love for all of us.

What I think of most often during this sad time is how much I will miss Grandpa's laugh.  Every time I called the house or talked to him in person, he was always so full of joy.  I loved simply talking to him.  We would play cribbage or pool while he would tell us so many wonderful stories from the war or from when our parents were younger.  
I was so excited to hear that he was going to be at our wedding.  Getting to see him was truly one of my favorite parts of that week.  I am so thankful that Jimmy got to meet him.
I loved him so much and will miss him tremendously.  I look forward to seeing you in Heaven, Grandpa, when I will hear your laugh again.

With sadness I read about the passing of your father today, and pray the Lord continues to bless you and your extended family with love in this time of sorrow.  As Easter is upon us, let us rejoice that Norm has risen to his place in Heaven, and leaves the wonderful extended family he guided, slide rule in hand, with a charter to continue his legacy of good times, caring, and love.

Betty & Family...just want you to know that Deb and I are missing Norm too. You two were our favorite landlords, and I enjoyed hearing Norm when he called into the KHNC radio shows from time to time. God Bless, Ted (renters at 2419 Creekwood)

Mark - so sorry to read about your father's passing.  My Mother passed away a year ago this month so I understand.  My thoughts are with you and your family.

We feel privileged that we had the opportunity to visit with Norm in August when we were all together at the wedding of Kelly Adams to Jimmy Needham.  We thoroughly enjoyed listening to some of Norm?'s stories and getting to spend some time with him.  Norm will be greatly missed by every member of his large family and remembered with love and kindness by all who knew him.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this sad time and especially with Betty who loved him the longest.  To our marvelous Daughter-in-Law, Mary, we know you feel blessed that you had a father who loved you so much and we send you our heartfelt love and prayers in this time of sorrow. As young as I can remember, my Grandpa was the sweetest, most welcoming person I had ever met.  I always felt a little scared, and nervous going to Grandma's and Grandpa's ...then again I was scared of almost everything growing up! But not with Grandpa.  He made me feel comfortable within a matter of minutes, and he always had something planned to do for my brothers, sister and I.  Miniature golfing, eating delicious food, getting professional lessons of pool...(I always thought Grandpa was the ultimate pool player...I looked up to him on all the challenging shots!)
I would be so excited while I was at Grandma and Grandpa's that I would wake up so early and I would peep downstairs and he would up dressed and ready to go for the day. I would go downstairs and he would give me a warm ""Well, good morning Jayne, how are we this morning?...Let's see we have some cereal, toast, milk what would you like?"" Just the little things I remember, but will never forget. Oh and ill never forget the commentary on the home videos we had when my cousins came to visit, too. ""Woulda look at that!"" 
My Grandpa will forever be in my heart and anytime I am feeling down, I will think of my Grandpa and how much of a wonderful person he was. I love you Grandpa and I will deeply miss you!

I feel fortunate and blessed that all my family had one last opportunity to spend time with my Grandpa 5 months back at my Wedding. I'll always remember that summer trip to Estes Park as a kid and the many rounds of pool in the basement. I'll miss you and remember you always Grandpa.
