Norman Wayne Yurk passed away at his home in Kersey, Colorado on November 2, 2022. Longtime resident of the Greeley area, he was 86 years old, born on October 9, 1936. Born at home in Anton, Colorado, third child of six, of Christian L. and Clara Yurk. He was preceded in death by his parents; oldest sibling, Jeanette York of Venture, California (2014); and older brother Richard E. Yurk of Piedmont, Alabama (2022).
Norm is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jean Stoll; his two boys, Christian G. Yurk of Sidney, Nebraska and Norman W. Yurk, Jr. of Greeley Colorado and stepchildren Rodney Stoll (Orlando, Florida) and Kristi Stoll (San Diego, California) as well as three siblings, Mary R. Hall of Gurley, Alabama; H. Chris Yurk of Loveland, Colorado; and Sylvia L. Yurk of Loveland, Colorado. Survivors also include: niece Kristin D. Johns (Highland Ranch, Colorado); nephews, Kyle D. Yurk (Loveland, Colorado); Ian D. Yurk (Loveland, Colorado); and two nieces outside of Colorado, Sara Hall and Suzanne Desimone of the Seattle, Washington area.
Norm graduated from Woodland Park High School in 1954. He married M. Evelyn Crowell on February 21, 1958 (Evelyn passed away on August 14, 2018). They lived together in Rainbow Falls Park, above Woodland Park, for several years, then in various Colorado Communities. Some of those communities included Aurora, Lakeside and Fort Lupton. A graduate of Denver University, Norm worked briefly for a private account firm, eventually moving on to being a Senior Accountant for IBM in Boulder for over 35 years. The last decades of retirement, Norm and wife, Jean, lived in Greeley, then recently moved to Kersey, Colorado.
Norm was always very family oriented; his family meant so much to him. He was an active supporter of conservative causes, loved farming, and was active in business and real estate. He loved our family reunions and was always supportive of them. He was a handsome, serious man who enjoyed a good debate (he was hard to beat when he took a side!) He had his moments of fun and good humor, and he loved little children, especially his nieces and nephews. He will be missed by family, many friends and associates.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made out to the Greeley Salvation Army Christmas Red Kettle Drive.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 19th, 2022, 10:00 A.M. with a Reception to follow at Allnutt Funeral Service Macy Chapel, 6521 W. 20th Street Greeley, Colorado 80634.
