Orel ""George Richey

Orel “George” Richey, 82 of Johnstown, passed away August 13, 2016, at Windsor Healthcare. He was born December 8, 1933 in Oconto, NE, to Orel and Ethel Caroline (Martin) Richey. He married Rachel A. (Cordova) on May 23, 1959 in Rapid City, South Dakota.

George attended Oconto High School and soon after joined the Navy as a 3rd and 2nd class Boatsman. He was also in the reserves for the Seabee’s. George has lived in Colorado since 1966. He worked for Hewlett Packard as a machinist as well as a Real Estate Broker. He was active in the VFW 2585, American Legion Post 70 and was a member of Grace Community Church.

George was admired by all, always humble and kind, showing others how to follow his example.

He is survived by his son Jack Richey; daughter Elizabeth Richey; brother Jim (Shirley) Richey; sisters Bertha (Paul ) Pedersen; Barbara Hosner; grandchildren, Laurie Roth, April Fetzer, Sidnee Richey, Kali Rainwater, Vanessa Richey; as well as six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rachel Richey; and brother, William Richey.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 22, 2016 at Grace Community Church, followed by interment at the Johnstown Cemetery.
