

Oscar Gomez, Jr., 58, of Greeley, Colorado died Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Medical Center of the Rockies, Loveland. Oscar was born on January 20, 1956 in Fort Morgan, Colorado to Oscar Sr. and Maria Antonia (Amaya) Gomez.
Oscar was raised in Greeley. He graduated from Platte Valley High School in Kersey. He worked at Garnsey & Wheeler for 30 years, and then went to Weld County Garage until he became ill. He participated in car clubs.
Oscar enjoyed putting model cars together, working on his various vehicles and showing his beloved truck at car shows. He won several awards for his accomplishments at car shows and events. He loved his niece-dog, Sophie, going to the mountains and watching Westerns. His son was his pride and joy and he spent as much time with him as he could – taking him everywhere.
Oscar is survived by his son, Michael Gomez of Greeley; three sisters, Andrea Amaya of Pueblo, Diana Rivera (Leo Jr.) of Johnstown and Stella Pesina (Joe) of Greeley and nieces and nephews, Steven Santos, Arturo Santos, Erica Lopez and Victor Garcia.
He was preceded in death by his mom, Toni and step-father, Eliseo Garcia and sister, Esther Santos.
Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Stoddard Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name at First Bank in Greeley.
