Paul, of Evans, CO, passed away at North CO Medical Center on September 25, 2020, he was 99 years old.
Born in Greeley, CO on August 18th, 1921 to Garland Dewey and Ila Erin (Gibson) Dunlap. He was the firstborn of 7 children.
Paul attended school in Windsor, CO, and was proud to be a Windsor Wizard. He left school in the 10th grade to work on the sugar beet farm. As a young man, he moved to California to work in an aircraft factory until WWII broke out. Paul joined the United States Navy to serve his country, he was an engineer and tail gunner in the PBM Black Cat Unit in the South Pacific theater. He served in the Navy until 1964, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from military service Paul joined Eastman Kodak where he was the Heating and Air Conditioning specialist.
He married the love of his life, Rosetta “Jean” Potter, on August 19, 1944. Together they had three children, Donald Robert, Glenn Edward, and Pauletta Lee Dunlap. They had 54 beautiful years together before she passed in 1998.
Passionate about his Heritage, Paul was involved with the Scottish American Military Society, the Northern Colorado Caledonian Society, and was the State Commissioner for Clan Dunlap.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents Garland and Ila, wife Jean, two sons Don and Glenn, four brothers Harold, Wayne, Donald, and Orval, and one sister Margaret.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Pauletta (Gary) Gain, sister, Della Ellis, sister-in-law Dorothy Dunlap, his grandchildren, Robert (Annette) Dunlap, Melissa (Denis) Jarosh, Apryll (Kevin) Lowe, Glenn (Sara) Gain, Robynn (Mike) Olson, and loved by six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Monday, September 28th from 4:00-8:00 pm, Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W 28th St, Greeley, CO
Interment: Wednesday, September 30th at 1:00 pm, Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 W 28th St, Greeley, CO.
