Phyllis M. Vigil, 88, of Ault, Colorado, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Fair Acres Manor, Compassion Care, surrounded by her loved ones in Greeley, Colorado. Phyllis was born August 23, 1932 in Eaton, CO, to Mike and Eleanor (Salazar) Martinez Sr. She married John Vigil on November 6, 1951 in Greeley. John died December 17, 2004.
Phyllis attended school in Ault, CO, graduating from high school there.
She was a devoted Mom, Grandmother and Great-grandmother. She worked as a Headstart teacher but her primary joy was that of a homemaker – her family was her life.
Phyllis was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ault, CO, and a life member of the Ladies Axillary Post 4334 (VFW). She enjoyed BINGO, sports, watching the Colorado Rockies and all professional sports in Colorado, scratch tickets, and she loved to talk.
She is survived by her children Mary Jane Lopez , Carmen (Johnny-deceased) Lucero, Pete (Sarah) Vigil, Ronny (Mary) Vigil, Terry (Troy) Patterson, and Carlos Vigil; siblings Mel (Rose) Martinez, Marge (Louie) Sainz, and Lee Martinez; grandchildren Shauna (Jeanie) Pena, Mel Pena, Bobby (Teresa) Lucero, Desirea Vigil, Koby Vigil, Bradley Vigil, Nicole Day, Orlando Cozad Gene Patterson, John Patterson and Troy Patterson; 9 great-grandchildren; as well as lots of special in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and God-children.
She was preceded in death by her husband John; her parents; siblings Ruben Martinez, Mike Martinez Jr., and Bernadeta Decker; and grandchildren Michael Louis Lucero, and Mikayla Jordan Vigil.
Services will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ault. Visitation followed by the Rosary will start at 11:00 A.M., Mass to begin at 12:30 P.M. Interment at the Ault Cemetery at 1:30 P.M., followed by a reception at the Ault VFW.
