Reyes Mercado Alvarado, 67, of Greeley, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at her home after a five-year battle with colon cancer. Reyes was born on Jan. 6, 1945, in San Marcos, Texas, to Jesus and Lupe (Rivas) Mercado.
Reyes was raised in Paducah, Texas. On March 14, 1963, she married Ignacio Alvarado in Paducah. She was a housewife and a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed cooking and being with friends. She also loved being with her grandchildren.
Reyes is survived by her husband, Ignacio Alvarado of Greeley; two daughters, Isabel Rodriguez and Grace Alvarado, both of Greeley; a son, Ralph Alvarado of Greeley; four sisters, Dora Espinosa, Rosa Pina, Lupe Hernandez and Minnie Ramos, all of Paducah; two brothers, Gilbert and Juan Mercado, both of Paducah; and four grandchildren, Alex and Andrew Alvarado of Milliken, and Chris and Alonso Rodriguez of Greeley.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Chris Alvarado; two brothers, Jesus and Jose Mercado; and a sister, Gloria Mercado.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Pheasant Run Congregation Jehovah’s Witness, 4702 3rd St., Greeley. Inurnment at Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date.
