Richard “Dick” Allen Barber Jr. of Greeley passed away Friday, July 23, 2021, surrounded by his family, at his home. He was born December 26, 1935 in Milliken to Richard Allen and Doris M. (White) Barber Sr.
Dick grew up in Greeley. As a young man he was active in school and Future Farmers of America. He graduated from Greeley High School in 1954.
After graduation he started working at Erickson’s Greenhouse.
He married Elaine Carnahan on February 11, 1956 at the Free Methodist Church of Greeley.
Dick owned and operated Dick Barber Plumbing and Heating, in Greeley for 35 years.
He enjoyed golfing, camping, and fishing. Dick loved to fish at Lake John near Walden. He also bowled on several leagues through the years. Dick enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos. He was an especially loyal fan of the Colorado Rockies, rarely missing a game.
Above all though was his love for his family, especially time with their grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Dick is survived by his wife, Elaine; a daughter, Janet Roberts (Ken) of Greeley; three sons, Kenneth Barber (Margaret) of Ault, Garry Barber and Doug Barber, both of Greeley; two sisters, Mary Pinkstaff (Carl) of Greeley and Marge Thoutt (Carl) of Brighton. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Cork Barber.
Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2021 followed by Services at 1:00 pm both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
