Richard Raymond "Dick" Buchholz, 74, of Greeley, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at his home surrounded by people who love him. He was born September 27, 1946 in Wisconsin, and was adopted by Raymond and Gertrude "Gertie" (Kindler) Buchholz.
Dick was an exceptional musician, a singer and a songwriter. He was an integral part of many musical collaborations. Most notably he was leader of Dick and the Roadmasters. He played and toured with the Van Dells and he placed in multiple Blues Competitions.
Dick served in the Army as a medic during Vietnam, when he returned home he became an EMT and continued to serve those around him. He spent many years in Georgia and Kentucky, playing music and teaching in the tri-state area. He was very proud to have been a part of "Guitars for Vets" (G4V), which is a program serving our veterans with PTSD.
Dick loved to play music at Assisted Living Facilities, especially in the Memory Care Units.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Shannon (Nick) Navarrette; sister, Ginger Sloane and her children, Vincent, Robin, Tony, Gina and Jason; in-laws, Dan, Marge, Rick and Susan and their children, Brian, Michael, Keith, Jennifer, Jessica, Bradley and Allison; 13 grandchildren, Gabriel, Jessica, Tyler, Levye, Daniel, Dathan, Tina, Amanda, Nicholas, Ashley, Casandra, Candido and Anthony and their children.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Richard's Life will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 West 28th Street, Greeley, Colorado. Inurnment will be at Cheyenne National Cemetery at a later date.
