I just heard yesterday (fm Ken Moran) about Dick and couldn't believe it. Some of my best memories at NOAA are those years with Dick and yourself!! It's not nearly the same as many of us old-timers have retired (2011 now with CIRES).

So many memories of a good friend and co-worker----early 1960's at Martin-Orlando working with Jim Gallagher and Vern Derr on the millimeter wave molecular beam machine--hydrogen sulfide leaks, fortunately after hours,--many weeks with 60+ hours--
still time for New Smyrna Beach with 7 kids---then Boulder with more great memories
with Norm and Mabel--no one better than Dick Cupp to make an experiment work--wish
Vern would have transferred Dick to the radar group.

Hi Judy!

I'm so sorry...I won't be able to come up Saturday for Dick's service...So in addition to my card, I wanted to check in with you via cyber-world to send my very best wishes to you and the extended families of you and Dick...I just read Dick's eulogy in the Boulder paper (Tuesday, April 25)...Thus this check-in after reading the allnutt URL...Humble, Kind, Gentle, Loving, Creative, Clever, Hard-Working, and Fun...From the eulogy...I say...""Nailed It""...And I didn't know him as well as you (Duh...Obviously) or Dick's NOAA gang from the WPL days...And I didn't know he served during the Korean ""conflict...AKA...War""...Thank you Dick for your service to the USA...I wish I could have told him this in person...I've used this phrase a number of times as I've pushed into the ""young"" senior years...But it's never been more appropriate than it is to you...May your grief be short...and your happy memories of Dick be long!!!...All my best to you Judy...Oh and by the way...Grampa still wants a lobster!

What an amazing man my dad was. Working hard every day to provide for his family but still finding time to take us to the beach or on picnics on the weekends. There are so many lessons I learned from you. So many memories I will pass on to my daughter. She is a lot like you dad. She loves the ocean and nature. You have been such a huge influence on so many of us. Thank you for stopping on your journey to make all of our lives so much better. Walk with the angels daddy. We miss you so much.

What a lucky girl I am to have you for such a wonderful and loving father.  You were my first best friend and I am so grateful for that.  What little girl enjoys going to an auto parts store or working in the garage?  I did, because I was with you and you made me feel loved and special.  As Dad would say ""we was pals!"". I will love you forever and cherish each memory in my heart . . . until we meet again.

My favorite memory is climbing into your lap while you sat in front of the house with friend, Bob Keith, smoking your pipe.  I can still smell the sweet aroma and see your smiling face as I looked up to you and rested my head on your chest.  I always felt safe in your arms.  You will forever be my hero.

Dad, you will forever be in our hearts - what a truly wonderful life you had!  I am happy and sad - you have gone over the rainbow to reunite with loved ones who passed before you, and left the rest of us with a hole that won't be filled until we see you again in heaven.  What a blessing you have been - you were loved and will be missed.
