So sad to hear this today... Dick was a great guy and shall be missed. I'm very sorry Harley.

Regrettably, i never met Dick, but he has virtually followed me through most of my federal fire management career all throughout the west--always getting me the things i needed, always with a smile and kind word. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. May you find peace in many happy memories.

To Dick's Family,

I'm so sorry to hear about Dick's passing.  He was such a great guy and I considered him a great friend.  I've been away from the USFS for some time, but in my memories of my first Government Job, Dick was one of the fondest.  He always had a great sense of humor, always smiling, looking on the bright side and could always make me feel better when I was having a rough time.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time of deep sorrow.  Celebrate his life and continue his good work of making this world a better place.  When you laugh again, and you will, remember he is right beside you laughing with you.

I always enjoyed working with Dick while I was at the Rocky Mountain Research Station. He had such a positive and ""can do"" attitude, and always worked with a smile.  He will be missed by many people since he was the person who interacted with so many outside of the organization.

Your family has my deepest sympathy.  I am so sorry for your loss.  Dick will be dearly missed because he was loved.  Never feel that you are alone though.  Psalm 46:1 says, God is our refuge and strength, a help that is readily found in times of distress.  Pray to Him for strength.  He will really help you (Isaiah 41:1) because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).

To the family of Mr. Schneider, may your fine memories of him bring you comfort.  It is my hope that you will also find comfort in God's heartwarming promise that the dead who are in His memory will be resurrected to life on a paradise earth.  (John 5:28, 29; Isaiah 25:8; Psalm 37:29)  Until that wonderful promise is fulfilled, may God, who cannot lie, grant you peace now and in the coming days. (Titus 1:2)

I was honored to know Dick when I had the pleasure of working with him often during my first 6 or 7 years with Rocky Mountain Research Station, when I dealt with publications.  I knew I could count on him for help locating what I needed to find, and quick responses when I needed them...and more importantly, for being so kind and thoughtful, and always with a smile in his voice.  (You can tell!)  He was a wonderful guy, and I am so sad to know he is no longer among us...but I do believe his spirit remains here, and will always be smiling upon those he's left behind.  What a joy it was to know him!
