

Robert Duane Andrews passed away on July 24th, 2025 at the age of 99. Duane was living at Garden Square, Westlake, Greeley Colorado where he had lived for about seven years. Duane, as he was called by family and friends, was born September 15, 1925 on the Andrews homestead farm in Rawlins County Kansas to Orvil L. and Charity Fay (Nelson) Andrews. Duane graduated from Atwood Community High School, Atwood, Kansas in 1942. Shortly after that he was drafted into the United States Navy during World War II. He served on the USS Destroyer in the Pacific until he was discharged from the Navy. Hi post World War II activities included graduating from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. After teaching a few years he attended the University of Wyoming from which he received a MA degree and then a PHD. In 1960 he married Elaine Hurst of Sheridan, Wyoming. They had two children, Sharon Lyn who preceded him in death and Gregory James of Tokyo, Japan. After being an Administrator at Oregon State University he retired and moved to Woodland Park Colorado. In 1989 he married Mary Elizabeth Kalman. He was an active member of Our Savior's Episcopal Church in Colorado Springs.
Preceding him in death was hi wife Elaine, and his wife, Mary, his daughter, Sharon, his parents and 3 siblings, James Leroy Andrews, Rosalie Beardsley, and Mary Jo Hall.
He is survived by his son, Gregory of Japan, sister Ulafay Fry of Greeley, Colorado and brother Gerold Rex Andrews of Greeley, Colorado, step-daughter, Claire Kalman of Colorado Springs, step-son, David Kalman of Colorado Springs, and son-in-law Rick Navarro.
Inurnment will be at Our Saviors Episcopal Church in Colorado Springs at a later date.
