He was born on August 6, 1929 in a farmhouse in Fort Lupton, Colorado to August and Ruth (Engnel) Heldt. Bob was a Dairy Farmer throughout his life up until his retirement. He married Bernice Leinweber on March 2, 1952 and they operated a dairy farm in Longmont, Colorado. In 1968 they moved to Windsor and continued to dairy farm. Bob and Bernice were together for 29 years and raised their two children, Cynthia and David. After they divorced, he spent 40 years with his partner, Patricia Fairbanks until her passing on April 29, 2021.
Bob served in the United States Army from October 1951 until October 1953 during the Korean War. He was involved in the American Legion as well as the Lions Club and was an active member at Bethel Lutheran Church in Windsor, Colorado. He also was proud of donating blood.
Bob is survived by his daughter Cynthia Rae (Gordon) Marcy; son David (Lee Ann) Heldt; brother Bill (Edris) Heldt; sister Betty (Bill) Spencer; seven grandchildren, Amanda Hartshorn, April Graves, Laura Patterson, Lisa Maxwell, Shara Marcy, Michelle Hendrick, and Jonathan Marcy; 17 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents August and Ruth; his partner Pat; his ex-wife, Bernice; and his two sisters Vivian Dedman and Janet Phinney.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 10, 2024 at the Hartshorn/Heldt house at 33681 County Road 13, Windsor, CO 80550 at 11am.
