Robert Dean “Bob” Simmons, 87, of Keenesburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2018 peacefully at home.
He was born July 1, 1931 in Greeley, and moved to Keenesburg with his family in 1962.
A veteran of the Korean War, Bob graduated from Colorado State College of Education in Greeley in 1957 and was a beloved music teacher and band/choir director. Early in his career, Bob taught in Wauneta and Red Cloud, NE before joining the staff of Weld Central RE-3J in Keenesburg where he made beautiful music for 29 years.
Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Karen; son Scott Simmons and wife Kelli of Saint Anthony, MN; daughter Kathy Simmons-Orr of Thornton; grandchildren Matt Sagehorn and wife Bri, Ethan Orr, and Elise Simmons; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents Vernon C. Simmons and Martha Simmons; sisters Shirley Ramsey, Barbara Ludlam, and Marjorie Simmons; brother John Simmons; daughter-in-law Kay Riedl Simmons; and son-in-law Kenneth Orr.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 16, 2018, 6-8 P.M. at Macy Allnutt Chapel.
Funeral will be held at 12:30 P.M. Monday, September 17, 2018 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Fort Lupton.
Interment will follow at 3:00 P.M. at Linn Grove Cemetery in Greeley.
