Ronald Dean Brooks

Ronald Dean Brooks of Greeley passed away at his home on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the age of 77. Ron was born in Logan, Kansas, on March 15, 1948, to Robert and Ival (Parker) Brooks. He moved to Fort Morgan with his family in 1954. He graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1966 and later attended college. He married Dorothy Brooks in 1968 and started a family. Ron served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War.

Ron worked at Edwards Market, Century Housing, Morgan County REA, the City of Fort Morgan, and in the oilfield over the years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing with his son, Lee, and having coffee, camping, and hunting with his neighbor and best friend, Julie.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Ival Lake, Robert “Shorty” Brooks, and stepfather Etson Lake, nephew Jacob Hastings, grandson, Chandler Brooks, brother, Allen “Bud” Brooks, and former wife, Dorothy Brooks.

Ron is survived by his long-term partner, Kitty Sue Hall of Greeley, his daughter, Sherri (Bob) Amen of Fort Morgan, son, Lee (Cherie) Brooks of Longmont, grandsons, David and Devin (Stephanie) Amen, great-grandchildren, Chloe, Abbie, Aiden, Ava, and Kade Amen, all of Fort Morgan, brothers, Robert “Red” (Patsy) Brooks of Vero Beach, Florida, and Larry (Molly) Lake of Austin, Texas, sister, Cleta (Robert “Rob”) Hastings of Snyder, sister in law Deb Brooks of Ely, Minnesota, Kitty’s parents, Betty and George Hall of Greeley, Kitty’s brother and wife, Bret and Julie Hall of Windsor, Kitty’s sister and husband, Lori and Scott Masi of Fort Collins, his best friend, Julie Mercer of Greeley and her family Falon Hibler, Stephanie Henneck, April Bell, Tyson Mercer and Bell children, his and Kitty’s many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and beloved friends.

Memorial services will be held on September 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Allnutt Funeral Service Macy Chapel, 6521 W. 20th Street in Greeley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s in memory of Ron.
