Ronald was born on October 29, 1952, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he spent the first 22 years of his life. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970 and served with pride in the Air National Guard at Joe Foss Field in Sioux Falls from 1972 to 1973.
In 1974, Ronald moved to Greeley, Colorado, which remained his home for the rest of his life. He worked for UPS from 1980 until 2007. Ronald earned his private pilot’s license in October 1985 and found great joy in flying.
He was a devoted Denver Broncos and New York Yankees fan and was always quick with a joke or one of his signature sayings—most famously: “Cows Tits, Bulls Balls. We're the boys from Sioux Falls.”
Ronald was a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his children, Rocky Sheffer, Matt Sheffer, and Natalie Aleman; his grandchildren, Lexi, Evelyn, Henley, and Aizlin; and his sister, Carolynn Wold.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cynthia Sheffer; his parents, Herbert and Ann Sheffer; his brother, Dan Sheffer; his brother-in-laws, Mark Hansen and Doug Hansen; and his father and mother-in-laws, Eugene and Delores Hansen.
