Dear Kelly and Family,
We were saddened to see that you had lost such a special member of your family.  We are thinking of you.

We were talking about how on Marty's 50th birthday he went down the stairs walking on his hands.  So we thought he probably went up the stair way to heaven on his hands. We had a little chuckle and thought you might too.....

The times we have had with the Steele Family have always been special.  And our memories will never be forgotten. We have had some big laughs and lots of fun. To what do I owe my amazing grandfather?  You can say Grandpa Marty fostered my love of animals--he would walk me to the park every day to feed the geese and ducks.  He also taught me to love history.  His collection of Pony Express memoriabilia (including the bar!) always fascinated me!  And what about my fiesty nature?  Ah, yes, that is what I thank Grandpa Marty for the most--my stubborness to keep doing what I want to do with life.  I am so thankful to have had Marty as my grandfather, and to be named after such a wonderful man.  I really hope right now he is chilling with a nice cup of coffee, a donut, a lawn chair, and he's saying to his beautiful wife, ""Well, shit Shirley...how about this view?""  I love you and will miss you, Grandpa!

Hi Marty,  
I just messed up my message by hitting a wrong button before I could write anything, but I wanted to say that we will miss your smiling face and your funny jokes.  I can still remember being surprised when I found out you played the harmonica.  We always had fun at Christmas singing carols around the piano (and the song ""Walkin Round in Women's Underwear"".)  
Anyway, we thank you and Shirley for raising such fine kids, as we love and enjoy Kelly, Vicky and Nicky (and their children!).

Grandpa,
I am so sad to see you go, but I know that you are in a better place. I have so many great memories of you that will be with me, and those who I share them with, forever. I will never forget how much fun all of us grandkids had with you and grandma when we would stay over at your house. I remember you would always take us on bike rides, take us to the airport to watch planes take off, or help us build our own rubber band air planes to watch them fly...and yes, I do remember when you would wear grandma's wig to make us all laugh:) These memories and your funny humor will live on, trust me:) I love ya and miss you so much already! Tell Grams Hi for me, and I will see you both on the other side!

I was fortunate to know Marty for many years. He was a strong man of great morale character along with a huge sense of humor. Besides his love for his country, nothing could match his love and his efforts to protect his family, children and grand-children. I'm proud to have known such a wonderful man. God Bless you Marty and rest in peace.

We were very sad to hear about Marty's death. We have known the Steele family since the mid seventies starting with Duane running track at CSU with Rick and the four of us (Debbie) sharing an apartment together.  Then Kelly came to live with us and what a crazy summer that was. (You remember Kelly, don't you?!?) We have enjoyed the whole family's friendship for these past 33 years.  Marty and Shirley were always in attendance at the family functions and were a hoot to be around.We will miss them both greatly.  Please know that your friends are here for you and that we share some wonderful, fond, funny memories of both Marty and Shirley.  Love, Duane and Theresa

Grandpa Marty-
I regret not being able to tell you goodbye and how much you meant to me.  Living so far away from you made that very hard, however I trust that my mom and Vicky reminded you everyday of how much I loved and missed you.  You were such an amazing guy.  The best Grandpa a kid could wish for.  I'll never forget eating ice cream with you even though grandma would say No! And all the treats you used to sneak me. It's no wonder i never lost my baby fat.  Anyways, you are in a better place now and i hope you have found peace.  You will always be in my heart.  I love you very much and thank you for helping me turn out to be the person that I am today. xoxoxoxox
