Ruth Maxine Fowler

Ruth Maxine (Tregoning) Fowler, 88, of Windsor, died Friday, October 21, 2016 at Windsor Health Care Center. She was born on April 1, 1928 in Eaton to W.H. “Bill” and Stella (Hawkins) Tregoning. When she was one year old, the family moved to Milliken and then to Johnstown in the 1930s. When Maxine lived at home, she took care of her younger brothers.

Maxine attended Johnstown schools and graduated from high school in 1946. After graduation, she worked at the Weld County General Hospital.

Maxine married Jerry Fowler on September 26, 1948 in Greeley. They lived in Greeley and Johnstown in 1955 they moved to Morrison, Colorado, where she worked in a nursing home for 23 years. After her retirement in 1989, they moved back to Greeley. Maxine and Jerry were married for 54 years. After Jerry died on May 18, 2003, Maxine moved to Windsor.

Maxine enjoyed going to the mountains, fishing and camping in Red Feather, liquid and cloth embroidery, putting puzzles together and traveling to Las Vegas and Blackhawk to gamble. She was a Denver Broncos fan.

Maxine is survived by her brothers, Irvin “Sonny” Tregoning of Johnstown and Merrill (Shirley) Tregoning of Windsor; sisters-in-law, Vera Tregoning of Greeley and three nieces, Saundra Rock of Greeley, Connie (Bob) Schubring of Centennial and Janna (Bobby) Ainsworth of Johnstown; three nephews, Rodney (Lisa) Tregoning of Windsor, Mike (Kim) Tregoning of Greeley and Kyle (Shelley) Tregoning; several great-nieces and great-nephews and two great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, parents, Bill and Stella Tregoning, brothers, Vern and Jimmie Tregoning, sisters-in-law, Aileen and Barbara Tregoning and Mildred Hersch, nephew, Billy Tregoning and great-nephews, Cody Lee Tregoning and Matthew Rae Tregoning.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
