She was born to Heinrich and Marie (Schwabauer) Kissler in Lincoln, Nebraska. She spent her childhood years living in and around Gering, Nebraska, where she also attended school.
On November 28, 1947, she married her loving husband, Leonard Michal, in Bayard, Nebraska. Together they shared 77 fun-filled and hardworking years.
In 1959, they purchased a farm of their own and moved to Ault, Colorado. Ruth was a wonderful cook, and her desserts were out of this world. She was also a talented seamstress who made school clothes and special occasion dresses for her daughters and granddaughters. She even made most of her own square-dancing dresses.
Ruth worked alongside Leonard on the farm, and they made every decision together as true partners.
Their weekends were spent camping with their children, square dancing, and later enjoying camping trips with their camping club, where they made lifelong friends.
Ruth also enjoyed playing pinochle once a month, where she kept up with community news and friendships.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose love and support will always be remembered.
Ruth is survived by her three children: James (Angela) Michal, Judy Michal, and Susan Scharrel; seven grandchildren: Jason (Sally Renfro) Scharrel, Xali (Rick) Sommers, Sandra (Chris) Garbiso, Nicole (Jason) Drager, Jennifer Scharrel, Uri (Rebecca) Michal, and Jamie (Cory) Venn; and ten great-grandchildren: Nhev and Truman Scharrel; Kinsley and Liv Sommers; Bella, Jordan, and Olivia Garbiso; Tyler Michal; and Autumn and Oliver Drager.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Leonard; her six brothers and six sisters; and their spouses.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Grace Pointe and Life Care Center of Greeley for the wonderful care they provided.
They would also like to thank the angels from Banner Hospice who watched over her: Kris, Lisa, Sue, Lori, Molly, and Jami.
Memorial donations may be directed to Banner Hospice.
Ruth will live on in the hearts of her family, and they will carry those treasured memories with them always.
