

Sharlene Chisum, 79, of Johnstown, died Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. She was born May 20, 1937 in Clayton, New Mexico to Sharon Leslie and Lillian Ellen (Dodds) Barker.
Sharlene was reared and educated in New Mexico, later living in Amarillo, Texas. She graduated from Amarillo High School. After she married Bill Chisum on February 1, 1955 in Clayton, New Mexico, they lived in Salina, Kansas, Denver and Eufaula, Oklahoma. After Bill died on January 6, 2000, Sharlene moved to Johnstown.
She was a member of Life Bridge Community Church in Johnstown and the Johnstown Senior Citizen Center. She was also a former volunteer for the Chamber of Commerce of Johnstown.
Sharlene enjoyed playing cards, bingo, traveling and was an avid Broncos fan. She loved to cook. Her grandchildren were a huge part of her life.
Sharlene is survived by her son, Leslie (Patricia) Chisum of Denver; very dear friend, Nancy Jacobson of Johnstown; sisters, Betty (Joseph) Genereaux of Ormond Beach, Florida and Tommye Gayler of Ft. Collins; brothers, Harold Barker of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Gerald (Donna) Barker of Greeley and Terry (Aretta) Barker of Lebanon, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Faith Nicole Chisum and William Martin Chisum both of Denver and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teri Cay Chisum.
Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2016 followed by funeral service at 1:30 p.m. both at the Johnstown Community Center. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Crown Hill Cemetery, Wheat Ridge.
