Sharon Lee Strasser (Lester), 84, passed away at Medical Center of the Rockies on September 13, 2026. Sharon was born on May 12, 1942 to Delbert and Allene Lester at Russell Maternity Center in Greeley, Colorado. She was one of seven children.
Although Sharon moved many times throughout her early life, she lived in Greeley Colorado for most of her life. Sharon Lee Lester married her high school, sweetheart, John Charles Strasser Sr. on October 17, 1959 at the Kersey Community Church. They had a long, happy marriage until John’s passing on May 13, 2015. They were married for 56 years.
In Sharon’s personal life, her and her husband were involved in many active organizations. Sharon was a member of the Kennel Club, took in and trained retired police dogs and loved photography so much that she set up a dark room at home to develop the photos from their many Gold Wing motorcycle travels with the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. They were also members of two car clubs: Good Times Car Club and LaBamba Classics where they proudly presented their 1947 Chevy Fleetline, receiving many awards and even landing articles in Lowrider magazine.
Sharon was a lover of life and loved everything she did. One of her favorite pastimes was cruising with her husband and friends in their ’47 Chevy and presenting and sometimes winning at car shows.
A cancer survivor herself, Sharon knew the importance of caring for those ailing and in need. She had a lifelong career in nursing. Starting at Weld County General Hospital, then Northern Colorado Medical Center, and ended her professional career at Normedco. But even though she was retired, she still worked privately, still caring for disabled and elderly patient for many years following retirement.
Sharon was a very vibrant person who penetrated love wherever she went. There was never a person she would meet that she didn’t show love, care, and concern. She was the ultimate example of how we all should treat one another. She gave so much of herself to everyone and lived a life of selflessness. You would have never heard her talk negatively about anyone. She lived a very simple and humble life but would give her last penny to anyone who needed it.
She was a social butterfly that craved loving on people, activities with inclusivity and always being right there in the center of it. Whatever she was doing, you could guarantee she was 100% devoted to it. She chose to focus that devotion and selflessness through many different outlets.
Sharon loved the Lord our God with every fiber of her being. The most important outlet was her devotion to God and her membership at Faith Bible Baptist Church in Greeley, Colorado. She was a pillar of this church and loved it and all the people that came in and out of it. She was one of the original members back in 60’s. Additionally, another important outlet was her membership with the Hill-N-Park Senior Center from the early 90s where is she performed duties as president. Even after she eventually stepped down from the presidential position, she still remained a very active member until the day of her passing.
Sharon is survived by her two sisters, Sandie Munroe and Patty Kercher, her children, Pam A. Elliott (Ron), Debbie A. Strasser, John C. Strasser, Jr. (Lori) and Kimberly Enriquez (Feliciano); grandchildren, Dan Elliott(Trina), Becky Roush(Branden), Bradley Johns-Parson(Hillary), Steven Groves, Ryan Hanson(Shana), Josiah Enriquez(Zoe) and Elijah Enriquez and great-grandchildren, Trenton Elliott, Madison Elliott, Wyatt Roush, Willow Roush, Dawson Elliott, Hunter Groves-Dimaria and Ayden (Carolus), Saige Hanson, Alice Hanson, Rush Hanson, Nash Johns-Parson, Ryanna Hanson, and great-great grandchildren Freyja Enriquez and Cora Roush.
