Shirley Hunt Buller, wife, mother, grandmother passed away January 1, 2017 in Ft. Collins, CO. She was 87. Shirley was born to Harry Wattles and Hazel Woods Hunt on October 16, 1929 in the small farming community of Killawog, NY. She graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. On August 5, 1951, in her Killawog home, she married Bertram (Bert) E. Buller. Shirley had several careers as a secretary and office manager that spanned a life crisscrossing the USA, culminating in her work in the Texas state office dedicated to ensuring handicapped access to all, Architectural Barriers. In Texas, she enjoyed square dancing with the Flutterwheels and cross stitching, but not being so far from her children, who mostly lived in Colorado. She was a woman of good cheer, a devilish sense of humor, and played a mean hand of bridge; she loved traveling, big band music, and the roses in her back yard. After she and Bert moved to Ft. Collins, CO in 1995 she split her time between Colorado and Apache Junction, AZ, where she would go with other snow birds to escape our winters. She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church and believed in giving back to her community by volunteering at Poudre Valley Hospital, the PVH Thrift shop, and at the Medical Center of the Rockies. Her smile and cheerful greeting helped thousands find their way to rooms of loved ones or to purchase the right treasures at bargain prices. Most of all she loved her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Bertram; son David Buller and daughter-in-law Mary Buller of Golden; daughter Martha Stephenson and son-in-law Craig Stephenson of Grand Lake; daughter Carol O’Meara and son-in-law Donald O’Meara, Jr. of Longmont; her grandchildren Lesley, Donald, Ian, and Katherine; her great-grandson, Liam; and brother John Hunt of Cicero, NY. Memorial contributions can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
