

Shirley Joyce Hardesty, 86, of Greeley, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Sterling Regional Medical Center. She was born on August 21, 1929 in Conifer, Colorado to Walter Ernest and Ruby Lena (Rogers) Fields. She was the oldest of ten kids. She loved having lots and lots of kids around, it was when she was happiest.
Shirley was raised in Johnstown. She graduated from high school in 1947 and attended Central Business College.
On May 5, 1950 she married Clyde Hardesty. They were members of the First Baptist Church in Johnstown.
Shirley worked as a bookkeeper for Burch Insurance Company and then Great Western Sugar Factory. She then worked at First National Bank in Johnstown.
She loved her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids tremendously. She enjoyed cooking, canning fruits and vegetables, sewing and raising goats and chicken.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Marjorie (Rod) Jones of Brush, Colorado; three sons, Walt (Linda) Hardesty of Otis, Colorado, Ray (Sheryl) Hardesty of North Platte, Nebraska and Les (Sherrill) Hardesty of Estes Park, Colorado; four sisters, JoAnn Schmidt, Helen Ford, Linda Fabrizio and Kathy Wenger; two brothers, Tom Fields and Bob Fields; grandchildren, Marcus Hardesty, Matthew Hardesty, Laura Fidler, Megan Miller, Tim Hardesty, Jacque Vance, Jennifer Holloway, Jessica Jones, Jeff Jones, James Jones, Marci McIntyre, Amber Bell and Chris Hardesty; 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, parents, sister, Mary York and two brothers, Howard and Ernie Fields
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
