Shirley Louise Hunkins, 89, of Loveland died peacefully at her home on July 1, 2018. Shirley was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of Gaylord and Esther (Kavula) Hunter. She was raised and educated in the Seattle area. She graduated from Seattle University with a bachelor’s degree in English. She later attained her master’s degree in vocational rehab from UNC. In February of 1972, she married Vaughn Hunkins in Pueblo Colorado. The couple resided in Pueblo until 1993 when they move to Loveland. Shirley was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, the Council for Catholic Women and several book clubs. She also enjoyed swimming aerobics with her friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son John Tallman. She is survived by her children: Paul A. Tallman, David A. Tallman, Susan E. Tallman; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial mass will be 10:00 a.m, Monday, July 9, 2018 at St. John’s Catholic Church.
