Silas Edgar Travis, a beautiful soul, gained his wings and joined his family in heaven. He had been fighting cancer for many years and fought like a warrior. He passed in his home in Fort Collins, CO at 12:15am on Friday October 11th, 2019 at the age of 76 years young.
Silas Travis is survived by wife, Mary Alice (Johncox) Travis; children, Jerry and his wife Jean-Marie Travis, Tammy Travis, Jamie and his wife Pamela Travis along with 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Silas was born on April 3rd, 1943 in Penn Yan New York to Harvey Albert Travis and Dorthia Ada Daggett. He finished his 10th year of school when he dropped out to help make a living at home with his 2 sisters and 3 brothers. He married Mary Alice Johncox, on February 2, 1963. Silas worked for several companies before he was hired on at Kodak as a production line worker; after a number of years he was a foreman and transferred from the Rochester plant to the Windsor Colorado plant in 1975. He retired from Kodak early and took up truck driving, hauling oil field equipment then graduating to refrigerated trailer before retiring. His children remember him as a caring and loving father.
He was a jack of all trades and master of none. He was a carpenter, electrician, mechanic and a musician, depending on the project, depended on which hat he wore. He was a talented individual who especially loved country music and who was passionate when singing. He had composed some of his own songs which he never published but sang often and did record some of those songs which were given to all of his children to always cherish.
