
Simon Aguirre, 97, of Greeley, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at Birch Assisted Living. Simon was born on September 9, 1917 in El Rancho de la Esperansa Tarimoro, GTO Mexico to José Hernandez and Dorothy Aguirre.
Simon moved to Greeley in 1960 to work in the onion fields. Then he worked at Great Western Sugar Factory and then retired from Mountain Aggrates after 30-plus years.
In 1989, Simon married Severa M. Aguirre in Greeley; they were married for 25 year, until she passed away. They were active members of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in their younger years.
Simon enjoyed recycling cans. He was a very hard worker and provided for his family.
He is survived by three daughters, Estela (Francisco) Ramirez, Veronica (Javier) Bermedo and Yolanda (Juan) Vasquez; one step-daughter, Santos (Lorenzo) Garcia; two sons, Jose (Feliza) Hernandez and Rubles (Linda) Hernandez; two step-sons, Celso (Pepé) Aguirre and Moises Jr. (Olga) Aguirre; daughter-in-law, Olfelia Aguirre; 63 grandchildren; 173 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Severa, son, Juan Aguirre, brothers, Enrique and Andres Hernandez and sister, Maria Consuelo Elaria.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 followed by Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
