

Socorro grew up in Ojo de Agua. At the age of 17 he came to the United States, living in California and working as a gardener. He then moved to Cortez, Colorado, where he lived for many years. He later worked in the oil field near Borger, Texas.
On February 11, 1978, he married Luz Ofelia Armendariz Prieto in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico. She passed away on October 18, 2009.
Socorro moved to the Greeley area in 1990 and has been here since. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church and worked most recently as a construction worker at GLH Construction in Windsor for ten years.
Socorro was a very hard worker and was always busy, whether he was working or at home. Above all was his love for his family. He would do anything for them. He loved Sundays, when he was able to spend time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Socorro is survived by his daughter, Socorro Edith Benavidez (Terry) of Evans; son, Cesar Balderrama of Greeley; two sisters, Teresa Balderrama Rivera (Jose Rivera) and Cristina Balderrama both of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico; seven brothers, Margarito Balderrama (Visenta), Refugio Balderrama, Camillo Balderrama, Jesus Balderrama, Dolores Balderrama, Eldefonso Balderrama and Eustasio Balderrama and five grandkids, Terry, Sebastian, Monique, Jesse and Mackenzie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a grandson, Josiah Cesar Balderrama and sister, Fransisca Balderrama.
Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday followed by Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. both at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
