Stephanie Carranza

Stephanie grew up in Brady, spending summers in Ault with her family. She married Augustine Lucas Carranza in Denver on September 27, 1962 in Denver. They lived in Greeley. Augustine died on February 7, 2011.

Stephanie was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and was associated with Knights of Columbus through her husband’s membership. She loved to take her kids bowling. She bred poodles and was a groomer for many years.

Her passion was caring for her husband, children and her grandson, Jamal, whom she helped raise. She also was a babysitter for her family and the neighborhood children. Stephanie made tortillas from scratch and loved to cook for her family.

Stephanie is survived by her daughter, Augusta Carranza-Jacquett (Damion) of Frisco, Texas; son, Simon Carranza of Evans; sisters, Mary Torrez of San Antonio, Texas, Alice Benavides of Greeley, Helen Guzman of San Antonio, Joann Moreno of Brady and Sandra Ruiz of Greeley; brothers, Jimmy Ruiz of Evans and Manuel Ruiz and Arthur Ruiz both of San Antonio and her grandson, Jamal Carranza-Jacquett.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Ruiz and Carol Carranza and a brother, Larry Ruiz.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2016 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 followed by a Liturgical Service at 12:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
