Stoney grew up in the Greeley area, and graduated from Greeley West High School in 1981 from there he went to Aims Community College, where he studied Civil Engineering, to be an electrician. He worked a variety of jobs with a majority of his work as an electrician. He was most proud of his job working as an electrician at DIA, where he worked with IBEW local union #68.
Stoney enjoyed bikes, motorcycles, and cars. His favorite teams from the NFL are the Miami Dolphins and the Green Bay Packers. He was always the man behind the camera, so he wouldn’t be in captured in any photos. He would always share a good laugh with his friends Tommy Dahlgren and Wally Young whenever they hung out. He enjoyed collecting CD’s and movies; he was a walking encyclopedia when it came to any song that was playing. Stoney’s beloved dog, Slash, helped to make his life whole, but she departed from our world three months prior.
Stoney is survived by his parents, Joe Puente and Nellie Silva; sisters, Betty Foos (Mike) and Beverly Peregoy (James); brother, Allen Puente (Jessica); nieces, Valerie Welch (John) and Bettie Jo Puente; great-nephew, Hunter Welch (Alyssa); great-niece, Jade Welch; godparent, Dave Silva (Shirley). He is also survived by many cousins.
Stoney was preceded in death by grandparents, Manuel and Elsie Silva and Jacinto and Consuelo Puente as well as his godparent Shirley Silva.
