Sylvia Dee Mattenklodt, 82 of Greeley, passed away November 10, 2015 at Grace Pointe Assisted Living in Greeley. Sylvia was born March 6, 1933 in New Orleans, LA to Oscar Arthur and Ethel (McDevitt) Powell. She married William Mattenklodt on October 12, 1951 in Vista, CA. He passed away July 3, 2014.
Sylvia grew up in a military family living in Hawaii, Maine, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and California where she completed high school. She met her husband in California where they married and had two little girls. They then moved across the Midwest settling in Greeley where they raised a family of five children. Sylvia was a Banker for many years with Wells Fargo. She retired at age 74. She truly enjoyed her job.
Sylvia’s faith was important to her. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Windsor. She was a member of the Garden City chapter of Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing, made clothes for her family, loved pets and gardening, travel and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. One of our greatest joys was shopping with her daughters.
She is survived by her children, Marie (Larry) Burton, Wasilla, AK, Teresa (Rodney) Mellott, Arvada, CO, Sylvia (Michael) Godson, Greeley, CO, and William “Billy” (Kathy) Mattenklodt, Jr., Greeley, CO; Grandchildren, Tonya, Rachael, Lindsey, Michael, Adam, Daniel, James, Luke, David, William “Willy” and Matthew; Great-grandchildren, Ashley, Drake, and Madelyn; as well as many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill; her daughter, Cheri Lee Mattenklodt; her parents; and brother Oscar Powell, Jr.
Family will receive friends at 10:00 A.M., with services beginning at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel with a reception to follow in the Allnutt Reception Center. Interment will be held at Linn Grove Cemetery.
Sylvia will be remembered for her love of faith, family and of the friendships she had developed over the years.
