

Tomas Prado Vasquez, 84, formally of Uvalde, Texas and a resident of Greeley, Colorado passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, born in Batesville Texas. He was the son of the late Tomas Vasquez Sr. and Maria Prado Vasquez.
Tom had to quit his education at the early age of 10 to help support his mom and family. They were migrant workers and they followed the crops to different states. Eventually he became an OTR truck driver for many years. He moved his family to Colorado in 1975 after hurting his back falling from his semi-truck checking his load. He then worked for the Weld County Road & Bridge Department in Greeley, CO for 30 years until his retirement.
He loved classic cars and going to car shows everywhere he went and his Tejano music. He enjoyed spending time with his youngest son, Simon, fixing the cars and listening to his music and relaxing with a Chilada. He loved his Chilada Fridays at his daughter, Norma's and Manuel‘s house. He loved to see his granddaughters play softball, Tonya and Iyanna, especially her he would travel to see her play. He was also very proud of his grandson David Vasquez serving in the military and rising to the rank of Senior Chief and his caring compassion toward him. Tom has so many grandkids that it is impossible to recount the memories he had with them. He was loved by many family members and friends. He loved family reunions when everyone got together to celebrate Familia or any kind of celebration that included family. He also enjoyed telling stories from his past how they worked in the fields, how he and his wife met, which all of the family had a little part of history.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Vasquez of 68 years. His children, Tom Vasquez of Greeley, Colorado, Priscilla Vasquez-Groh (Mark) of Westminster, California, Roland Vasquez, Greeley, Colorado, Fay Tapia (Ruben) of La Salle, Colorado, Drusilla Santos (Manuel) of Greeley, Colorado, Norma Rodriguez (Manuel) Greeley, Colorado, Gilbert Vasquez (Irene)of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Jesse Vasquez (Penny) of San Antonio, Texas, Simon Vasquez (Julie) of San Antonio, Texas. Sister Esperanza Olvedo of Uvalde, Texas. 48 grandkids, 81 great grandkids, five great great grandkids.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two sons, Orlando Vasquez, and Norman Vasquez, his great grandson, Amadeo Vasquez, and seven brothers and sisters.
A Visitation and Recitation of the Rosary for Tom will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W. 28th Street, Greeley, CO, 80634. On Thursday, March 6, 2025 a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Ave, Greeley, CO 80634 immediately followed by Tom's burial at Evans Cemetery.
