Evelia “Velia” E. Renteria of Evans died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at North Colorado Medical Center. She was born March 11, 1935 to Juan and Angela (Dominguez) Aparicio in Torrington, Wyoming.
The family moved to Washington, where she grew up and attended school. The family later moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming. She moved to Greeley and then to Evans where she has lived since. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
Velia married Louis Renteria in March, 1978 in Greeley. Velia and her husband loved to go out dancing and enjoyed traveling to Washington, Chicago, Wisconsin and Mexico. They also enjoyed walks together. She was a homemaker and enjoyed collecting knick-knacks. She especially enjoyed working crossword and word search puzzles. She loved cooking and baking and visiting with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Louis; daughters, Irene Lopez of Yakima, Washington, Vera Ardon (Mario) and Christina Maama both of Salt Lake City, Utah; sons, Bennie (Carmen) Flores of Colorado Springs, Bobby Flores and Timmy Flores (Sara) both of Salt Lake City, Utah; brother, Ralph Aparicio of Brighton; 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers and a great-grandson;
Visitation 3-7 p.m. Sunday, followed at 7 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary at Stoddard Funeral Home. Liturgy service 10:00 a.m. Monday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
