Vera Elizabeth Risk

Vera Elizabeth Nelson Risk passed away October 1, 2023 at age 91. She was the youngest of 8 children born to Victor and Ellen Nelson on July 16, 1932. Her parents had immigrated here from Sweden. Vera grew up on the farm in Eaton, Colorado with her 6 brothers, Elmer, Clue, Lawrence, Ernie, Earl and Lavern (Hap) Nelson and her one sister, Helen. All of whom have predeceased her. We are sure that those older siblings spoiled her rotten, because she was ornery and feisty her whole life. Vera graduated from Eaton High School and married her high school sweetheart, Bob Dotson in 1950. They had 4 children, Cindy, Randy, Kristy and Richard. Vera stayed home and raised her children until she went to work at State Farm Insurance, where retired after 30 years. Vera was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church and continued to be involved in ladies circle groups and especially enjoyed the sewing circle. Vera loved spending time with her children, 6 grandchildren and12 great-grandchildren. She also loved pigs; real, stuffed, ceramic, whatever. She also enjoyed camping, fishing and riding the motorbike. Vera loved Halloween and especially dressing up for it. It got to the point the grandkids were more excited about what Grandma Vera was going to be for Halloween, than what they were going to be.

Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1865 14th Ave, Greeley, Colorado on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 10:00 a.m. A burial will occur Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 W. 28th Street, Greeley, CO 80634.

Her son Randy Dotson predeceased her.

She is survived by children, Cindy and Dwayne Bullock, Kristy and Russ Davis, and Richard and Renee Dotson, Grandchildren: Chad Shepherd, Shane and Alison Shepherd, Stuart and Sonal Dotson, Aylissa and Stan Helkey, Taylor and Rachel Dotson, Keenan and Cris Dotson, Great Grandchildren: Alex, Audri, Brayden, Liam, Antony, Helena, D’Artagnan, Jules, Orson, Klaus and Marcel.
