

Estes Park, CO resident Verjean Skeie died at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday morning April 23, 2017. She was 89 years old. Verjean Jacobs was born December 26, 1927 in Oak Park, IL. Her parents were Henry and Elsie (Wightman) Jacob. Verjean graduated from Senn High School in Chicago, IL and Bowling Green University in Ohio with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. On December 8, 1951 she married Randolph Skeie in Anaheim, CA. The coupled lived in St. Paul, MN, Clinton, IA, Hutchinson, KS, Hays, KS, Kansas City, KS, and Thornton, CO before moving to Boulder, CO in 1961 where Verjean was a Graduate Advisor at the University of Colorado at Boulder Business College for 21 years, retiring in 1988. The couple moved to Estes Park, CO in 1997, a place they had visited since 1958. There Verjean was involved in the Newcomer’s Club, Bridge Club and the Estes Park Book Club. She was also a big support to Randy in his dedication to the Rotary Club of Estes Park and had attended many functions and volunteered her time. Verjean is survived by her husband Randy of Estes Park, her son Craig and his wife Rhonda of Nederland, CO, and daughters Laurel Skeie Huesers and her husband Edward of Lyons, CO and Susan Skeie Melvin and her husband Loren of Greeley, CO. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and a sister Janet Hunter of Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Cynthia Martinson in 1982. A memorial service will take place at the United Methodist Church of Estes Park on Saturday April 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow at the American Legion in Estes Park.
