Verner Nathan “Tom” Hartshorn was born January 24 1932 to Vernor Asa and Winifred V. (Austin) Hartshorn in Earlville, New York. He passed away on May 12, 2011 at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado. He grew up in Earlville with his parents and older sisters. After graduating from Earlville High School in 1951, he served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1954.
On September 24, 1955 he married Sybil Wightman in Lebanon, New York. He worked in New York at a quarry then worked at Wicks Lumber for ten years. Tom and Sybil had four children, Larry, Roger, Edie, and Patty. In 1971 he moved his family to Windsor, Colorado. While in Colorado, Tom continued to work for Wicks Lumber in Fort Collins another ten years. Then he joined his son Larry on the Dairy Farm until retirement.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sybil; sons, Larry of Windsor, and Roger of Severance; daughters Patty of Queen Creek, Arizona and Edie of Columbus, Georgia; sister Kathleen of Norwich, New York; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a grandson.
Graveside service 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
