

Jo was born June 28, 1935 on the family farm in the Independence Community south of Fort Lupton to Jesse and Evelyn Hause, the fourth of their five children. He attended historic Independence Grade School, Brighton High School and graduated from Greeley High School in 1953 after his family moved to LaSalle and then to Greeley.
He met Patti Allison when she was attending Eaton High School and they became engaged at her senior prom. After she graduated they were married on November 4, 1956, living for a few years in Greeley and then permanently in Eaton. She passed away in 2005 shortly before their 49th anniversary.
After high school, Jo worked for the Soil Conservation Service, and the Colorado State Highway Department before joining family-owned Flatiron Paving Company, first as an estimator and then a manager and vice-president. He retired from the company, which had become LaFarge, in 2004.
Jo was Past President of the Weld County Builders Association, and a member of the National Asphalt Paver’s Association. He served for years on the Eaton Town Board and was a member of the Greeley Elks Lodge. He spearheaded the Elk’s Thanksgiving food distribution program and he and Patti headed each year’s Elks Christmas party for developmentally disabled children of Weld County for over 20 years. Along with his wife and children, he was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Episcopal Church, Greeley, where he and Patti taught Sunday school classes. Jo was a member of the Eaton Country Club and later the Greeley Country Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Sabrina Johnsen and her husband, John, and children Jesse and Zachary of Portland, Oregon and his son, Troy Hause and his wife, Noelle, and their children Terran, Ian and Maris of Windsor.
He is also survived by his brother, Gilbert Hause and wife Trudy and sister, Mary Margaret Cox, of Greeley, his sister-in-law Nancy Hause, formerly of Estes Park, now of Lawrence, KS, his brother-in-law and his wife, Jack and Shirley Allison of Greeley, his brother-in-law, Robert Allison of Greeley, his sister-in-law and her husband, Pam and Wayne Roitsch of Seguin, TX, and 16 nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death in addition to his wife and parents were his in-laws, John and Eva Allison of Eaton, his brother, Albert Hause and sister-in-law Lorene of Brighton, his brother, Richard Hause of Estes Park, his brother-in-law James Cox of Greeley, his sister-in-law and her husband, Dixie and Dale Clarkson of Greeley, sister-in-law, Ruth Allison of Greeley and one nephew, Douglas Hause of Houston, TX.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel, 702 13th Street, Greeley, with a reception following in the Allnutt Reception Center.
