Wayne was raised in the Longmont area and graduated from Longmont High School in 1967. He graduated in 1973 with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Construction Management from Colorado State University.
As a prominent business owner in Northern Colorado, he owned and operated Ideal Construction Services, Inc., a commercial concrete construction company, for over 40 years.
Some of his favorite projects included designs for the Colorado Division of Wildlife but his civil work can be found across the Front Range and beyond.
Wayne's greatest hobby was enduro and train racing at several prominent speedways. He and his partner, Joe Genua, took the 2009 train national championship.
His lifelong passion was working on cars. He particularly enjoyed restoring cars to their original condition and helping others with repairs.
When not working on cars, Wayne and Christine enjoyed taking road trips to National Parks and spending time in Las Vegas.
Wayne is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Christine; daughter, Keli; two grandchildren, Alie and Mandy, her husband Matt, and their two children, Sophia and William Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy.
A visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
