Wendell worked at Schaffers for 30 years till he stopped working in 2021, due to his health issues. He loved the staff as well as the Staffer program. He sorted, tagged, and disassembled TV monitors for recycling. Wendell also volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
Wendell loved to listen to music, and sing along with TRI 102.5. He loved listening to stories. His favorite pastimes were Broncos games, playing dominos, painting, swimming, motorcycle rides, fishing, bowling, and dancing. He loved having pizza every Friday. He enjoyed going to Black Hawk, Scottish Fest in Estes Park, going to the Zoo, pumpkin carving, Halloween, Christmas, Easter, and Cocktail hour with "Grandma". Wendell loved his "nephews" Sky and Raymond. He lived with Jodi and family for eight years and loved his host caretaker. Wendell attended school until 1970 due to his HC. Wendell loved to Wheel of Fortune and joke that Vanna White was his girlfriend. He would then switch the channel to Jeopardy and then Jack Trooper. He teased his family that he was Jerry Springer and Judge Judy.
Wendell is survived by his niece, Dawn Mullen (Heather, Patrik, Hannah), Kim Albreicht (TJ, Patition and Kayla and kids), and nephew Greg Carlson (Cindy).
Wendell is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Larry, Leo and Stan.

A Graveside Service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 West 28th Street, Greeley, CO 80634, US, on August 25, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
