
Bill was born on September 16, 1947, in Waco, Texas, to George and Lucy (Thomas) Esch. He was raised alongside his brother, Leslie, and spent much of his childhood moving throughout the country as his father served a career in the United States Air Force.
Following in a tradition of military service, Bill proudly served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1988. After his military service, Bill continued his commitment to serving others as a deputy sheriff with the Weld County Sheriff's Department, where he worked until his retirement in 2008.
Bill married Ann Heffel, and together they built a life centered on family, adventure, and lasting memories. They raised two daughters, Sarah and Jenni, and spent many summers traveling across the United States.
Bill enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley, and spending time in nature. He was deeply involved with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), supporting fellow veterans and their families. His commitment to the organization led him to serve as State Commander, a role he held with great pride and dedication.
Bill was known for his friendly, outgoing nature and his ability to make friends wherever he went. His warmth, sense of humor, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Esch; his daughters, Sarah and Jenni; his grandchildren, Marcus and Mason, and many extended family members, friends, and fellow veterans. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucy Esch; his brother, Leslie Esch
Bill's legacy of service, love of family, and devotion to his community will be remembered and cherished by all whose lives he touched.
