William “Bill” Gurley, 88, of Fort Lupton, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton. He was born on January 17, 1930 in Holly, Colorado to Harvey and Anna Gurley.
Bill was raised in Hartman, Colorado, where he graduated from Hartman High School. He has lived in Fort Lupton for the past 65 years. Bill worked for Public Service for 29 years before his retirement. Bill never stopped working by mowing lawns and other handyman jobs the Fort Lupton.
Bill married Clyda Summer in 1952. They had four children.
In 1990 he met Marilu Van Beek at a square dancing event. Bill was a round dance caller. He was raised a Methodist and was a member of the Fort Lupton Methodist Church.
Bill had a strong personality. He was a very kind man. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether he was camping, fishing or hunting. He loved to read and solve word searches. He had a wonderful work ethic.
Bill is survived by his wife, Marilu; daughters, Donna Enix (Clayton), Debra Gurley and Sharon Gurley (Gerry Colvin); son, Richard Gurley (Lourdes); step-children, Antonette, Shauna and Paul Bills; sister, Edna LaVerne Melkus; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Anna, a sister, Emma Maurine and a brother, Ernest LeRoy.
Interment will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 28th Street, Greeley with a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 306 Park Avenue, Fort Lupton.
