I just read about the loss of Bill in the Sheridan Press. I send my deepest sympathy.  As your neighbor in Dayton and a teacher of the Herring offspring, Bill always impressed me.  He was a great dad with face-to-face involvement with his kids' education. Bill  occasionally visited my classroom to understand my teaching approach in order to understand and guide his teenagers.  Rarely, and I mean rarely, did I see fathers show the quality ""parenting"" skills he did.  And, you all were great neighbors across the field.  I send you healing wishes and I will think of  him, as I do Tanya, now and then as I wander in those fields (which we bought several years ago).

Had some good times with Bill in high school.  My girlfriend (now wife) and I fondly remember his smile, and willingness to be one of the first on the dance floor.  We also remember back fondly when Mr Gorley (sp?) our History teacher, and the resident Driver Training instructor took us on a couple (Bill, Joyce, and I) unsanctioned trips in the driver training car to just tool around and talk. It was a toss for a while, who would wind up with Joyce.  Glad she chose me.  Bill, you were a good friend.

Bill graduated with me and our other classmates of the Class of 1962. I remember him as as an upbeat, funny fellow who enjoyed his time at Morrisville-Eaton CS with his friends. We missed him at the 51st reunion and were so sorry to hear how sick he was. But when I think of him I see a guy with a big smile for every one. My deepest condolences to all your family.
