I got a new car.  Wish you would have been here to tell me what to get...  I went a long while just waiting for the time my van would break down on the side of the road in the dark-just like you told me in my dream...  I can't believe how much I still need you, and how I can't believe you're not here.  I'm devastated Poppy.

We went up and cleaned up your yard on Saturday.  It looks much better.  The leaves and beans from the tree were just terrible.  We're going to have to take out two trees, but I already warned the doves so hopefully they understand.  I asked the arborist repeatedly if we could save them, but they're just too old.  The kids came, they worked hard too.  We still expect to come in the front door and see you.  Grandma comes down almost every week.  We took her to BeBe's Special Olympics basketball games and she really enjoyed them.  I'm sure she'll be here for Easter too.  I know you're watching.  I love you Poppy.  I miss you more than you will ever know.  Laura

I know that you cannot read this.  I just cannot get over losing you.  Some days I have grandma and some days I don't, but I know you understand that.  I still see the coyotes on the lake.  And I still find your pennies.  It makes me believe that I'm making the right decisions when I can't just call you.  I feel you near me all the time, I know you haven't left me yet.  I'm so sad Poppy, I wish you would have done a terrible job raising me, so that I didn't love you so much.  If you and Billy see that bear, don't let Billy shoot it.  He belongs to me. I have many fond memories from the past.  My thoughts are with you during this time.

For some of you may know me, and some of you not-I am Laura, always known as Saundra's daughter, Vern and Vera's granddaughter...  Today I am a reverted little girl, crying for her Poppy...

I would be remiss in noting that it seems the Sobeski's bury the Tregonings...  Jeff: I remember when your grandpa died, I remember his birds, and the truck you drove.  I have always felt comfortable to be away because I always knew I could call you, I knew I could trust in you.  Jeff, you Missy and Joey have always been there for my family and relentlessly never let them down.  I want to thank you.  Poppy called on your family because he truly looked at you as additional grandkids, he loved you.  I am proud to share him with you.  

I could write a beautiful story about my grandfather, my words are endless.  I have been contemplating the words I would speak today, and nothing has been more difficult.  I find calmness in my quiet, and seem not to want to tell the world, tell the world what terrible thing has happened to my family.  It's almost as if I don't tell anyone, it hasn't happened.  I guess you all now know...

I worried at first that my Poppy wasn't very religious, and nothing is always rosy, over the past few years my Poppy has been quite the stink...  Bonnie Raitt once said she preferred to be labeled ??oSpiritual??? never ??oReligious???, I think my Poppy would agree.  He found solace in the outdoors and peace inside his home.  My husband has a shirt that reads: ??oI'd rather be standing here fishing and thinking about God, than be sitting in church and thinking about fishing.???  That explains my Poppy perfectly.  

I would describe my Poppy as a man that would have done anything for anyone, and everything for me.  This is the man who took and raised me, when my father didn't have it in him.  I remember sitting in his truck after they had woke me before the crack of dawn, eating chocolate donuts and drinking orange juice as my grandma drank scalding hot coffee, we were going fishing.  As we drove thru Fort Collins in a terrible rain storm, Poppy saw a man with a truck and a camper stalled in the middle of the road.  After parking our truck and camper in a nearby parking lot, he ran thru the traffic and the rain to help the man.  I was angry, I knew our trip would not happen.  As we sat and waited, grandma pat my leg and just told me to ??osit tight???.  Poppy had gotten the man out of the street and they both worked on the truck to no avail.  The man asked Poppy what he owed him, Poppy told him ??oabsolutely nothing, you would have done it for me???.  It was too late and too rainy, we headed back home.  Grandma made us tuna fish sandwiches and we played cards in the kitchen, I was still wiping the tears from my eyes.

Our very next fishing trip, low and behold Poppy's truck stalled.  I couldn't believe it, we never had these problems, and Poppy could fix anything.  We got to the side of the road, and a man stopped to help.  My anxiety grew, I could almost smell the fish I would be missing.  Grandma told me to ??osit tight.???  After a short time Poppy returned to the truck, it started right up.  The man came to his window and as Poppy thanked him and asked him what he owed him, the man replied: ??onot a thing, I'd hate for you to miss your trip.???  I could feel tears of joy well up in my eyes, but I didn't want Poppy to see it.  Grandma simply patted me on my leg and said: ??ojust sit tight.???  

I think this was the code he lived for, he treated others as he wanted to be treated, and he did everything to provide for and protect his family.  This is certainly not something God would pass over...





I have so many stories; when he sang A White Sports Coat in the truck all the way home from a fishing trip; when he and grandma would dance at the Nicks family reunion; when the Tregoning's would make home made ice cream on the patio; and the time he drove clear to Greeley to the junk yard to get my red blanket when it was left in our car after a car accident.  It's difficult to define what to say.

Sorry for your loss.  Bill, Jon and Duane let me in there carpool when I first started at FSV.  I learned a lot and had a good time being Bill's welding helper that first year.  God bless you all.

Though it has been many years ago that I had the privilege of working with Bill at FSV, I do recall a wonderful man who helped me forge my way through difficulties of being an ignorant fledgling Engineer.  He taught me much and for that I am very appreciative.  May God bless you and comfort you in this time of loss.

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing.  Both my Dad, Sam Koshio, and I worked with Bill at FSV.  My Dad thought so much of Bill, and I remember Bill as always being so nice.  My thoughts are with you and your family during this time.

One of my fondest memories of Bill is his wonderful smile, and I can still hear his laugh. I also remember him giving his all on our winning basketball and football teams our senior year.  But now he's gone from our sight, but not forever.  Our hope is in that reunion someday.  What a celebration!!  No more tears, just lots of laughter.  My prayers are with you. May God comfort you in ways that only He can do.
