Warren Woodson, III, 72, of Greeley, died Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Fort Collins Health Care Center. He was born on December 20, 1946 in Butler, Missouri to William Warren II and Daphane Mercedes (Sanders) Woodson.
Warren grew up in Chillicothe, Missouri, where he graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1965. After graduation he attended Maryville College Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. He was then inducted into the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam and earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 60 Dev, Good Conduct Medal, Sharp Shooter with the M-16 and two Overseas Service Bars.
After his discharge, Warren returned to Missouri and received his college degree. They moved to Greeley in 1974, where he worked for Flood and Peterson Insurance. He then worked for CNA Life Insurance in Denver. He owned Break Billiard Supply. In June 1994, he opened Barleycorn’s Bar and Grill and sold it in December 2012.
Warren was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Greeley. Warren loved golf and ultimately became president of the Eaton Country Club. He was also president of the Babe Ruth Baseball League in Greeley. He owned Break Billiard Supply and soon after he bought Barleycorn's Bar & Grill with his wife Sharon. Warren and Barleycorn's became big supporters of UNC Athletics. Eventually he and friends opened BMW Billiards. His love of pool and pool leagues earned him induction into the VNEA (Valley National Eightball Association) Hall of Fame. Above all was his love for and time spent with his family.
Warren is survived by his wife, Sharon of Greeley; daughter, Kim Cronkhite (Todd) of Greeley; sons, Kevin Woodson (Traci Gillen) of Centennial and Nathan Woodson of Louisville; three grandchildren, Avallon, Tessa and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Jude, Lennon and one expected; niece, Patty and nephews, David, Philip and Scott.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Terry and Kathy.
Memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2019 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Inurnment Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver.
