Wilma Jean Wetlaufer, 89, passed away on June 22, 2025. She was born on November 23, 1935 to Hilda and William Ernst. Wilma grew up in Johnstown, Colorado and attended Longmont High School. Wilma worked various jobs throughout her life. On February 11, 1955, Wilma married Merlin Duane Wetlaufer. Together they raised four wonderful children, Timothy, Janine, Gary, and Deanna.
In her free time, Wilma loved to spend time with her family. She loved to bake her famous peanut butter balls for any special occasion. Her time with the friends she chose and the family she had was cherished in her heart. Wilma was an incredibly wonderful woman for those lucky enough to have met her. She will be greatly missed.
Wilma is survived by her brother, Harvey Ernst; daughter, Deanna Scamman; son, Tim Wetlaufer, grandchildren, Gary Primus, Sy Primus, Eric Primus, Krystal Scamman, and Amy Thomas; great-grandchildren, Astin Busby, McKynlie Busby, Olivia Thomas, Oakleigh Thomas, Heaven Primus, Sayde Primus, Sy Primus Jr., Christopher Primus, and Madeline Primus.
Wilma is preceded in death by her husband, Merlin Wetlaufer, parents, Hilda and William Ernst, son, Gary Wetlaufer; daughter, Janine Primus, brothers, Don Ernst, Leland Ernst, Grandson, Geoffrey Scamman, and great-grandson, Jacob Busby.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025 10:00 am at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 W. 28th Street, Greeley CO 80634. Reception to follow the graveside service 11:00 am at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W. 28th Street, Greeley, CO 80634.
