Alan Francis Jones

Born April 4, 1933, on Blair Ave in Indianapolis, the son of Casey Francis and Mary (Robinson) Jones. He was a graduate of Stilesville High School “Class of 1951”.

He was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Sharon Joan Dunivan on November 14, 1954, and lived six months in a tarpaper shack off post.

Alan retired from the State Highway Department after 46 years as a Surveying Engineer. He also served on the Fillmore Fire Department for over 50 years and the American Legion Honor Guard for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wives Sharon Joan Jones and Hazel Buis Jones.

Alan is survived by his children Larry (Kathy) Jones, Garry (Cora) Jones, and Kathy (Tony) Sparks; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and special friend Mary Ann Simmons.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home on Monday.

A reception will follow the services at the American Legion Post 1401 Indianapolis Rd Greencastle, IN.
