Bernice C. Zimmerman

Born November 17, 1918 in Union County, IN, she was the daughter of James O. and Verna (Freeman) Plessinger. She was a graduate of Greencastle High School “class of 1934” and nurses training in 1952, receiving her LPN degree. She married Herman Zimmerman in December of 1967 and he preceded her in death in June of 1983.

She was a nurse and X-ray technician for over 30 years at the Putnam County Hospital until her retirement.

Bernice was a member of the Fillmore United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women; a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star; lifetime member of the Women of the Moose; and the Home Extension Club.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra L. (Jerry) Glass of Fillmore; a sister, Mary L. Keller of Sycamore, IL.; granddaughter, Kristina (Marc) Gray Perez of St. Louis, MO.; and a great grandson, Alec H. Perez.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, John, Jake, Jay, and Leland Plessinger; three sisters, Dorothy Sutherlin, Carolyn Freeman, and Doris Meador.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Palmer-Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Little Walnut Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 6th, with an Order of Eastern Star Service to be held at 6:00 pm.
