Betty J. Marcum

Mrs. Betty Jean Marcum, 77, of Greencastle, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 at Mill Pond Health Campus surrounded by her family. She was born in Letcher County, Kentucky on June 29, 1934. She was the eighth of ten children of Benton & Rosa (Hampton) Boggs. She was married to James Jerome Marcum, Sr on January 10, 1955 in Greenfield, Indiana. Her beloved husband preceded her in death on October 18, 1996 and she will now join him in Heaven.

She is survived by a son, James Jerome Marcum, Jr (Sue) of Rockville, IN and a daughter, Jennie Sue Coy (John) of Greencastle. Her cherished grandchildren, Jacob John Coy of London, Jill Holly Hamilton (Jamie) of Greenwood and James Jerome Marcum III “Trey” of Greencastle. Others survivors include Jim & Sherry Perdue of Greencastle, James & Rhonda O’Malley, and their children, Morgan, Patrick, Madalyn & Aaron. Betty is also survived by several nieces, nephews, & friends.

Betty worked at Angwell Curtain Factory and DePauw’s Delta Upsilon Fraternity, where she served as a housemother and cook for 25 years, and touched the lives of many young men.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 3:00 pm at the Clinton Falls Community Church with Pastor Steve Ranson officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Clinton Falls Cemetery. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
