Billy Gene Austin

Born December 3, 1939 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Avery and Mildred (Huffman) Austin and a graduate of Bainbridge High School “Class of 1958”

Bill was an airline Captain with US Airways for 33 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Soaring Eagles and Bainbridge United Methodist Church.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon J. (Baker) Austin; daughters, Dianna (Bryan) Bessignano and Kathy (Steve) Brehan; sister, Janet (Lanny) Parker; grandchildren, Drew, Nick, and Joey Bessignano; brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, grandparents, “Another Mommy and Daddy Bill” and a half-sister, Loretta Lay.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 10, 2017th at the Bainbridge Community Building in Bainbridge, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home.
