

Born March 25, 1925 in Putnam County, he was the son of Harold Glenn and Elizabeth Edeline (Hurst) Clark and was a graduate of Fillmore High School “class of 1943”. He was a graduate of Franklin College, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education and his Master’s Degree from Indiana State University. Burl married Ida Alice (Walton) Clark on November 1, 1947 and she preceded him in death on April 12, 2005.
Burl was proud to have served in the United States Marine Corp from 1945 to 1946 and always displayed the flag proudly.
He had taught from 1953 to 1957 at Fillmore and taught from 1957 to 1987 at Greencastle Jr.High School, he had also served as principal for ten years at Miller Elementary School. He had served as scorekeeper at various sporting events for 27 years and received recognition at an Indiana Pacers Game. He had also worked as a painter during the summer months.
Burl was a member of the First Baptist Church, Greencastle, retired Teacher’s Assn., past member of the Kiwanis Club, and an avid woodworker.
Survivors include his children, Marjorie (Gary) Hood and Stanley (Peggy) Clark, both of Greencastle, two brothers, Charles Clark and companion, Mandy and Wendell (Vera Jean) Clark; six grandchildren, Amber (Colin) Galford, Ryan (Tosha) White, Tim (Krystal) Hood, Angie Snider, Tammy (Andy) Schafer, and Ben(Jenny) Clark; 12 great grandchildren, Griffin, Madeline, & Sofia Galford, Kaiden Tomasino, Lindsey Hood, Cameron & Dylan Snider, Payton Linkogle, Clark Schafer, Macy, Keirsten, and Corbin Clark; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, Myron E. Clark; two brothers, Ivan and Eugene Clark; and four sisters, Evaline Frank, Geraldine Runion, Madge Smith, and Lucille Albin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Mark Scott officiating. Entombment with military honors will follow at the Pinelawn Mausoleum of Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM on Wednesday, January 9th at the funeral home.
